Win Chickens in the Headlights by Matthew Buckley

What are a mother and father to do with SEVEN rambunctious boys under the age of eleven? For the Buckleys, the days are filled with running, yelling, food, wrestling, and burping—even through family home evening. Every night culminates in an epic bedtime battle. When the school year ends, however, Mom and Dad decide to harness some of their boys’ apparently inexhaustible energy and buy some goats and chickens for them to take care of. While they are initially thrilled with the “responsibility,” the boys soon learn that it’s far tougher—and far funnier for the reader—than it appears. If you’ve ever spent any time around boys, this hilarious and occasionally touching story will have you laughing ’til it hurts and fondly remembering some of your own childhood adventures.
My boys and I adore Chickens in the Headlights. When my son, Denver, won the choice of a new book for the school library he immediately requested Chickens in the Headlights. It's one of the few chapter books that we have read numerous times. I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you've been blessed with boys.

  22. Destrella - I'm sure your friend would adore this book. Just tell her to keep reminding her boys not to try some of their stunts! We've broken a bunk bed at a friend's cabin trying to imitate the Buckley boys!

  30. My dog makes me laugh when the family is wrestling and the dog, Sprite, has a stuffed toy in her and tries to bark and get involved in the ruckus. Her bark is muted but she continues to bark until we stop playing.
