The 39 Clues

My 8yo bought The 39 Clues set from Scholastic Book Order. We've been having a great time reading the books, collecting the clues, and playing the game online. I'm amazed that each book is written by a different author yet the voice feels fluid. Some of the authors I recognized were Rick Riordan, Gordon Korman, Peter Lerangis, and Linda Sue Park, but there are also authors we'd never read, giving us some new names to try out. For a list of the authors, click here. If you haven't read The 39 Clues with your children I highly recommend them.

  3. They are fun books. It's kind of fun to see a middle-grade series that isn't fantasy doing well. Not that I don't like fantasy, but I need a little variety when I'm reading aloud for hours on end.

  4. My 9 yo daughter LOVES the 39 Clues series. We gave her all 10 books for Christmas and she just finished book 10 today. She enjoys getting on the computer and doing the cards/puzzles as well. She tells me all the time there are things that happen in the books she wants to talk to me about. Guess I better get reading them so we can chat. :)

  5. You should read them, I really have enjoyed them. The other day my son wasn't home and I peeked to see what was going to happen in the next chapter!

  6. LOL! I'm glad to hear the adults have enjoyed them, too. I'm thinking of buying them for my husband. I swear the poor guy gets the shaft when it comes to good books for guys. The Deseret Book/Seagull Book advertisements are full of great fiction books for women, but fiction books for guys? Not so much. I'm excited to see if he likes them--thanks for the recommendation!
