Torn

Do you ever feel ripped apart trying to balance all your responsibilities while not losing sight of your own dreams? My husband asked me last night if I was almost done working on my writing late at night. I told him in about six or seven years I would definitely be coming to bed. Poor guy, he's not being unreasonable wanting his wife around, but after the boys are in bed is quite often the only time I get something accomplished!
How do you make it all work and keep the focus on those real people who matter most?

  1. This is a tough one! I don't have kids at home anymore but it still feels like I'm avoiding people when I write. I deal with it by taking breaks. I'm that kind of all or nothing person.

    1. It's hard for people to understand when you don't clock into an office or something.

  2. I get up and write in the morning like 5 or 5:30 so it's before my husband and 3 boys under the age of 6 are awake. I'm not a morning person so I'll go an entire week without writing at times. That's ok for me because I haven't had anything published yet and am not under contract to get my writing done quickly.

    1. You are amazing! 5 am and you're not a morning person. With that kind of diligence you'll be published soon!

  3. I count it a blessing my last child started school this year. Before I felt the same as you and I don't think I ever found the right balance. However, my hubby likes to watch TV and I could care less. So...while he's watching his shows I would try and write so we could both be ready for bed around the same time.

No matter what, there has to be some give and take. Having a plan is best, but it's still hard to turn off the story in your head when it's not "writing time".

    good luck!

BTW, I got a short review up. Sorry it wasn't more in depth, but it's been a bit crazy.

    1. Thank for the thoughts and the review! I'm with you on the no-tv, my boys think I'm a nazi! My youngest is two and I'm hoping for one more baby so I'll just have to keep trying to balance! I'm just grateful I can pursue a talent I love and my family is usually supportive.
