Birthday Failure

My sweetheart's birthday was yesterday. The boys and I got him a tie. Yes, a tie. My 10yo and I walked stores for hours on Saturday trying to find some sort of present. The low point was when my son held up a yellow popcorn popper, so excited to have found something he knows his dad would like until I reminded him, "We bought the red popcorn popper for him for Christmas." The sad thing is we both considered buying it, cause you can never have too many popcorn poppers.
My 14yo asked his dad yesterday, "What do you give a man who has everything?" He opened his arms wide. "Lots of hugs and kisses."
So Dad got lots of hugs and kisses, an amazing dinner and cake, some really adorable notes and gift certificates for things like foot massages and bowls of popcorn delivered to the couch, and . . . a tie.
Please tell me I shouldn't be feeling such guilt, even though my husband spoils me every chance he gets, no hard-working man wants their wife to spend money just for the sake of spending it, right, right?

  1. Men are so hard to buy for. My husband loves coupons. And food.

  2. I don't think you have anything to feel bad about. If a man wears ties, he can never have to many. Plus, he got what he said he wanted, lots of hugs and kisses! He also got some good food, a cake, and who wouldn't love those coupons? Plus, he got to spend it with you and the boys! Sounds to me like he had a fabulous birthday!

Tell him I said Happy Belated Birthday!
