Reviews: What Those Stars Mean to Authors

My author friend, Teyla Rachel Branton, posted an article on how authors interpret the star review system on Amazon. Click here to read the article. I really appreciate her sharing her thoughts on how reader's ratings are looked upon by authors. Sometimes I think readers don't realize that most authors read their reviews (even though we probably shouldn't). I personally only post a review on Amazon or Goodreads if I can in good conscience give a 4 or 5 star rating. In my opinion it helps no one to bash an author because everyone has different things they like in a book.
What about you? Do you have a personal rating system? What do you think of Teyla's rating suggestions?

  1. I'm such a picky reader that I've started doing recommendations instead of reviews. And I'll only blog my thoughts on a book if it was 4-5 stars. But before I decided to publish I did do book reviews, and I did do neg reviews. I wasn't mean just honest. I tried to point out the pros of the book too, but I did point out the cons.

    1. I think most authors realize we are putting ourselves out there and you're always going to have somebody who doesn't love your work. I think it's really great you shared the pros and the cons, I've done that before too.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
