Stress Reliever

I'm sure many of you can relate to life being crazy. My four boys are healthy, happy, and kind to their momma, but they are busy. My oldest two are so heavily involved in lacrosse I spend most of my afternoon and evenings driving them to one practice or another. Between church, my husband's work, my writing deadlines, and trying to teach and love these cute boys I sometimes get completely overwhelmed.
I've discovered the best remedy for my stress is to read my scriptures at night and then put a warm humidifier with lavender oil next to my bed and try to relax and think of spiritual or family things. It's been a great therapy for me.
What do you do to de-stress? I could use any tips!

Living in the Eleventh Hour by Robert L. Millet

Just as the scriptures teach us that the Second Coming of the Lord will be "at midnight" (Matthew 25:6), so the signs of the times teach us that "midnight" is close at hand.

In Living in the Eleventh Hour, author Robert L. Millet points our minds and hearts toward the future—to the glorious day that lies ahead. This encouraging work not only assists us a Latter-day Saints to recognize and better understand the signs of the times but also reminds us of our individual responsibilities as we prepare ourselves and the world for the much-anticipated return of Jesus Christ.

Filled with uplifting quotations from Church leaders, insightful scriptural texts, and engaging personal experiences, this timely book inspires us to live today as if He were coming tomorrow.

Brother Millet's faith-building message is clear: Steadfastly doing the small things that allow us to live each day with faith, rather than fear, builds our trust that the Savior's return to earth to rule and reign will be a glorious and welcome event.

My Review

I was a little apprehensive about this book as I've read some books on the Second Coming that focus on the horrible and terrifying events that will precede the glorious day. This book was nothing like that. The focus was on the positive things we can do to prepare and the ways we can protect and uplift ourselves, our families, and those around us. I loved how he taught about the parable of the ten virgins and explained that the wise virgins couldn't give their oil to the foolish virgins because they had acquired that oil drop by drop through righteous living. I'd heard that explanation before but he really brought it full circle back to our relationship with The Holy Ghost and how the little choices of prayer, scripture study, church attendance, service, etc. bring us closer to The Holy Ghost and our faith and knowledge are strengthened so we can make the righteous choices to stay on the right path, to stay safe, and to be ready to meet the Savior again.

This is an inspiring and uplifting book. It was also a fluid and easy read. I didn't feel overwhelmed or feel like I had to read passages over and over to understand them. It really hit me that the Gospel should be simple and straightforward and this book truly lives by that principle. I am very grateful for the insights and encouragement I discovered as I read and learned.

VL. Virgin Lips. You may not have heard of it, but where I live, it's a thing with a card, even if it is a figurative card. I was Brooklyn Hamlin, certified virgin lips, and I planned on clinging to that figurative card with all I had--while dating as many of the hottest guys at school as I could.
Maybe that's a bit strange. I mean, what teenage girl isn't interested in kissing? Locking lips definitely interested me, but the drama that came with it didn't. No kissing, no drama. Simple.
But on my sixteenth birthday, on my first real date even, the drama found me. His name was Luke Graham--cute, funny, and bad news for the whole female race.

The Princess Problem by Diane Darcy - Click here to purchase
In real life, she's given up on the fairy tale ending...
After having her heart broken twice, Alicia Dayne has sworn off men, decided to concentrate on her career, and is delighted to win a lucrative contract to make a commercial for Highborn Mattresses.
She could make the most awesome fairy tale commercial ever--except for Jonas Highborn, who isn't exactly thrilled with her Princess and the Pea ideas, and really doesn't want a prince in tights representing his company.
Though he's trying to keep his grieving mother happy by letting her have charge of the commercial shoot, and though Alicia's trying to keep in mind that this annoying guy is her boss for the moment, they can't seem to keep from clashing.
Throw in an overly-handsome prince, a matchmaking mama, and a stunning rose garden, and maybe, just maybe, Alicia can be convinced they have a chance at something real.
Because while she might not be a real princess, sometimes an ordinary girl's got to take a chance, even when it seems too good to be true.
When did Happily Ever After become so complicated?

Steal His Heart by Diane Darcy - Click here to purchase

They both fight their growing attraction, Kent because dishonesty is the one trait he cannot tolerate, and Daisy because Kent is directly interfering with her long-range career goals.
But when an unskilled matchmaker tries his hand at getting them together, the unexpected happens to them both as Kent gets distracted and Daisy steals his heart!

"Cami Checketts is a genius! She writes about topics that aren't widely discussed, and she does such a brilliant job of crafting these things into wonderful stories that touch your heart and remain with you for days afterwards. There are so many emotions in this book, so many different layers of love and bravery and hope and I loved every moment of it!" Myra, Reviewer for Pieces of Whimsy

"I absolutely loved this book! Cami is one of my favorite authors and she has never let me down. The book starts out with a mom and her two children playing in the snow, enjoying being with each other and having a blast. Then out of the blue their world is turned upside down.
The book was filled with a lot of suspense, but there was also "Cami humor", (which I love) and a little romance, or a lot, depending on which way you look at it. Seems it was coming from all directions!" -Vicki, Reviewer for I'd Rather Be Reading at the Beach

Speaking

I'd rarely been asked to speak on my expertise in the fitness industry, until I became an author. Then the speaking engagements started pouring in. I was asked to speak about writing, reading, body image, fitting fitness into everyday life, etc. At first I was dumbfounded. I even told a lady, "I write so I don't have to speak, just like I play the piano so I don't have to sing!"

But it has been a blessing for me to learn how to speak in front of a group. I used to get so nervous I would make myself and my family nuts for the week leading up to a speaking engagement. Until I realized that I actually enjoy speaking (once I'm on stage). I've learned to get over my nerves (for the most part) and really try to prepare and speak in a way that will lift and inspire the audience. I'm still not sure if I'm effective, but it's been a wonderful experience to make new friends and push myself to learn and grow.

Have you ever had to do something that was completely out of your comfort zone? Did you feel like you learned from the experience?

My Review

I read this delightful series in the wrong order, but still loved every book! I just keep hoping and praying that someday Elliott and Talia will live happily ever after (I know, hopeless romantic).
These books are all fun, fast-paced, and interesting. I love the way Talia talks us through being a spy and how she definitely is not one of the Bond girls. Ha! Love the author's voice and would highly recommend these books.

Praise for the series

A fast-paced, crisply written story with entertaining plot twists, told in a first person, wryly self-deprecating narrative voice. . . . I, Spy is a well-crafted romantic suspense with humor, heart, and a uniquely engaging heroine.

I knew by the first page that I was going to love [I, Spy]. I absolutely loved Talia's inner voice. . . . The plot is enjoyable and I loved the action! I really could not guess what was going to happen next. There were so many surprises at the turn of each page, especially during the climax, it didn't matter what time it was, I had to finish.

The series has this great combination of sarcasm and wit in the MC, great chemistry and dialogue between her and her love interest, and then a whole slue of spying, deception, intrigue, and danger. Especially of that last one. . . .

I thoroughly enjoyed [Spy for a Spy]! I would definitely read it again and I am highly anticipating the next book that Jordan McCollum writes! If you enjoy action-adventure, suspense, or books about characters who are spies and some romance, then I would definitely recommend this.
