“‘Clearly you have a dizzying intellect.,’" Jasmine teased.
Talon smiled, a dimple revealed in his right cheek. “‘Wait till I get going.’”
He sounded just like Vizzini and they both chuckled.
“Truly, how did you know all of that?” she asked.
Talon shrugged. “The other option besides the military was being a geologist. Science was my favorite subject in school. But then I wouldn’t be shooting guns and excelling in hand-to-hand combat.”

They stowed their empty water bottles back in the backpack, which he swung back over his shoulder.
“I can carry that,” she offered.
“What kind of gentleman would I be then?”
“No kind.” She smiled. “Thank you.”
She started up the trail, but his hand on her arm stopped her in her tracks. “Jasmine.”
“Jazzy,” she corrected, turning to face him again.
“Jazzy.” He said her name softly, reverently, that husky timbre in his voice making her cells swirl with a warmth she’d never experienced.
