First Responders Collection for Charity

This is a very personal post for me. As many of you know we were in a horrific car accident June 5th and my 15yo son Pizza (Phoenix) suffered a traumatic brain injury, crushed skull and eye socket, among other breaks to his face. His frontal lobe was without oxygen for five hours before a miraculous surgery and the removal of his skull.

There were so many miracles throughout both of his intense surgeries and his stay in the ICU and trauma unit. We have every faith and hope that Pizza will soar back to full health and be whatever God needs him to be.

I can never thank you all enough for the prayers and love and concern!

I have a hard time thinking about the accident, thankfully I was knocked unconscious and unable to move so I didn't see my boy in such a terrifying state. We were so blessed by and grateful for all the first responders and then the medical experts who saved Pizza's life. We spent three weeks in Primary Children's Medical Center surrounded by earthly and heavenly angels. The peace we felt was unreal.

“I have a vacation home in Kauai.” Parker grinned. “You win the prank war, and it’s yours.”

“What?” She blinked at him. “You’re … not serious.”

He shrugged as if a vacation home in Kauai meant nothing. It probably didn’t, to someone as wealthy as him.

“You’re out of your mind.” In more ways than one. She needed to walk away, but she only stared at him, stunned. “I’m not taking your house for some silly bet.” 

“I’ve been accused a time or two of being too generous with beautiful women.” His gaze swept over her. “But I’ve never offered anyone my vacation home. You agreeing to put high stakes on the prank war is very important to me.” 

Now his dark eyes appeared sincere and earnest. As if she were special and the only woman he’d give a vacation home to. How did he pivot so quickly and believably? 

Eva was closed off and utilized joking, especially dark humor, to stay safe from anyone seeing inside to her heart. She wasn’t anywhere near his level of cold detachment disguised as whatever he needed to get into a woman’s heart. She should be running the other direction, to protect herself, but she could only gape at him.    

“What do you want if you win ?” She glowered at him and folded her arms across her chest. "And if you say a kiss, the radial nerve pressure point will feel like a love tap. Comprende?”

“That you would even mention something so cliché as a kiss gives me confidence. You obviously don’t know your enemy. ‘If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.’” 

She loved that quote and had repeated it to herself before missions. Dang him touching such a personal chord inside of her. 

“You can quote Sun Tzu all day,” she flung at him, “but you’ll never triumph over me. I researched you online, before the mission.”  

She knew exactly who she was messing with. 

“Did you now?” He looked humbly pleased. Another mask. How many did this guy have in his bag? He switched them seamlessly. 

“I was not impressed.”

He quirked an eyebrow. “You are very good at lying, aren’t you, Eva?” 

Hearing her name on his lips shot a thrill through her. Frustrating how out of control she was around this man. She wanted to demand he call her Robertson or Lieutenant. She didn’t. It would be too telling. 

“I’m an expert,” she replied sweetly. “You’ll never have any clue if I’m telling you the truth or not.” 

“Hmm.” Parker edged a bit closer. His scent overwhelmed her, but his dark eyes were the worst offender. She may have to drop him to the grass again. 

“Spit out what you want, Warren.”

“You,” he said simply, his gaze intense.

“You can’t have me,” she burst out with. She should incapacitate him. Tellingly, she only glared at him. 

“You,” he repeated, sweet and as enticing as any man she’d ever encountered. “For an entire day. We’ll fly to a location of my choosing and you will experience the best day of your life.” He paused to let it sink in or make his next words more impactful, “And you will call me Parker.”
